Hopewell does “small town” like no other. Often listed in New Jersey Monthly as one of the “10 Best Small Towns in N.J.,” Hopewell is best described by the New York Times in its feature, “It’s in New Jersey but it Screams Vermont.”   Most recently, a long-time resident and new merchant in town cited Hopewell as, “the place where New Jersey began to be beautiful to me.”

Hopewell is a quaint town filled with history and bustling with activity. Broad Street is lined with an eclectic mix of restaurants, retail, and antique shops. The main street was designated a “Great Place in New Jersey” by the American Planning Association’s New Jersey chapter, which commended the town and its planners for managing growth and development in a way that preserved the “character, charm, and historic integrity” of the community.

With a strong local and loyal fanbase, Hopewell’s favorite town events include summer movies under the stars, the Hopewell Fire Department’s annual Haunted House, and a borough-wide scavenger hunt led by the Hopewell Public Library. The biggest event of the year is “Cruise Night,” when vintage cars line Broad Street and people come to stroll, enjoy live music, and taste divine dishes from local vendors.

Exciting retailers new to Hopewell include the amazing Brick Farm Market, featuring a local butcher, cheesemaker, bakery, and purveyor of all things farm to table; Twine, sellers of the perfect assortment of home accessories, paper goods, and gifts; and The Bear and The Books, the newest addition to town that offers a well-curated selection of children’s books.

Hopewell’s restaurants are equally impressive: the talented and eclectic mix includes Nomad Pizza, declared the best slice in N.J.; Da’s Restaurant, which Zagat ranked as the best Thai food in the state; and the beloved Blue Bottle Cafe, about which a New York Times reviewer said, “The potato gnocchi at the Blue Bottle Cafe, in Hopewell, is the dish by which I judge all others.”

Hopewell Borough is surely one-of-a kind, as are the unique homes in the area.  To see all our latest offerings visit callawayhenderson.com.
